Application Process
STEP 1
Substrate Prep
The first and most important step of the process is preparations to the substrate. We mechanically grind the concrete floor using industry-leading equipment. To profile the surface we use walk behind diamond floor grinders, small hand grinders for edges and corners, and all of our are grinders are attached to HEPA-filtrated vacuum systems which capture the majority of the dust. The preparation step removes unwanted coatings, stains, grease, and oils. Which, in turn results in a concrete floor that is clean and porous allowing our coating to penetrate deep into the substrate and creating a mechanical bond.
STEP 2
Integrity Repair
After grinding the substrate, we will inspect the canvas and begin to repair all cracks and imperfections. The cracks and spalling areas are filled and then allowed to cure. After the repaired areas are fully cured, we will grind the repaired imperfections to match the surface profile of the remaining floor. This step restores the integrity of the entire concrete substrate so that our coating can be installed with maximum bond and performance.
STEP 3
Basecoat
We utilize the highest quality industrial products from established coating manufacturers. In terms of quality and durability, they are the top of the line. For the basecoat, we apply a pigmented polyaspartic base coat. Our basecoat is 100% UV stable and is tinted to match the flake color of choice. Once we mix the material utilizing ratios that provide maximum durability, we apply the product to the concrete floor using squegees and rollers that force the basecoat into the open pores of the concrete creating a stronger bond. At this step in the installation, you will begin to see the transformation of your floor begin.
STEP 4
Broadcast
While the base coat is being applied, we broadcast decorative flakes by hand into the product. This allows the flake and basecost to chemically bond creating durability and impact resistance. We distribute the flakes 100% to rejection which gives the floor its look and slip resistant texture.
STEP 5
Rejection Removal
After 1-2 hours the flake and basecoat will chemically bond and cure. At this time the rejection removal process begins. To ensure that there is even coverage and no sharp vertical edges we scrape and vacuum off the excess flakes. The flakes are then removed from the site and discarded in our containment tent so the clear top coat can be applied.
STEP 6
Top Coat
The final step of our process is to apply our Polyaspartic topcoat that is chemical resistant and very easy to clean. The topcoat is squeegeed and back rolled on the flakes, making the floor non-porous, slip resistance, and UV stable. At this step you can see the shine of your new superior floor!
